My Grown-up Gift Card Wishlist

Disclaimer: all of the opinions expressed in this post are my own. I was not compensated in any way for this post.

Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, and everything in-between! Now that the merriment of this year's holiday festivities are over (for now - you've got less than a week to recover for a new hangover at New Year's!), you have probably - like me - found yourself bored out of your mind, yet sitting on an immense pile of plastic cash....better known as gift cards.

Granted, I love shopping as much as the next girl, but I prefer to take advantage of the comforts that technology has afforded me and do it from the comfort of my own home. This is for several reasons: one, malls make me anxious (just ask my boyfriend Ryan about that one) - especially during the busy holiday season. Two, I'm less likely to blow all my money online because I hate paying for shipping. And three, I don't have to put in my contacts or even put on pants if I don't want to. (Just for the record, folks, I write to you from the safe haven of pajamas and glasses. Pants included, though!)

However, I know online shopping can be just as overwhelming as the hectic chaos of the mall, what with sites' crappy navigation and constant traffic - so, I've put together this little chunk of inspiration from my online shopping (and hoping) adventures. Think of this as my little post-holiday present to you. On that note, merry whatever you celebrated, happy 2016, and good luck exploring the terrifying realm of online shopping in late December!

American Eagle

 (Descending from left to right)

Aerie off-the-shoulder sweater ($$)

I read an interview with Hillary Clinton, whose good friend Diane von Furstenburg apparently told her that the only body part that never ages is the shoulders. If you're anything like me, you always have to justify your purchases - and I guess DVF's advice would make this sweater a pretty sexy investment!

AEO fit & flare sweater dress ($$)

This dress is equal parts girly girl and 90s skater chic, has a great waistline that works on most body types, and looks comfy, yet is just dressy enough to get away with wearing it at a nice family dinner. Versatility for the win.

AEO denim x high rise jegging ($$)

Every girl needs a good pair of jeans. While I hate the word "jeggings," I am all for this breed of pants. They're perfect for girls like me, whose hips and butt are a completely different size than her legs. Bonus points for the trendy high waist.

Aerie coin purse ($)

I honestly freaked out for a good minute over how cute this coin purse is - which, in today's fast-moving world, basically amounts to an hour of freak-out. This adorable find says "save" on one side and "spend" on the other! I love it so much...in another life, I must have been a Gemini.

Chronicle Books Unplug Every Day ($)

A year's worth of journal prompts to help you detox from the poisonous environment of laptops and phone screens...she said while typing furiously. If better sleep and more quality time with friends and family isn't worth $14.95, I don't know what is.

Fringe faux leather notebook ($)

"Get it Done." I'm not sure if the cover of this pretty pink notebook is talking about my to-do list or clicking the "add to cart" button....I guess there's only one way to find out!

Aerie lace racerback bralette ($)

Ladies, if you don't own a bralette, your lazy days are sorely missing out. Aerie's bralettes are the next best thing to wearing no bra at all. Allow me to sound like the guy from the OxyClean commercials for approximately two seconds: it's on sale, so act now

Urban Outfitters

Kimchi Blue plunge-back lace frock dress ($$)

Dear Santa, I know it's a little late to be asking, but would you pretty please bring me this dress last-minute? Size small, please. Thanks, darling.

Hunter original gloss rain boot ($$$)

I love that these rain boots have a touch of riding boot in them. Functional for a day of puddle-jumping, yet pretty enough for an afternoon at the country club. Not that I can afford to go to a country club. Or to buy these shoes...

Ecote suede scalloped a-line skirt ($$$)

I've seen (and fallen in love with) about a thousand button-front suede skirts in my lifetime, but nothing has ever captivated my attention quite like this scalloped hemline before. This skirt is a people-pleaser, simultaneously channeling a girly and an edgy aesthetic. If the price tag is daunting, you could totally make your own with a find from the thrift-shop - but that would defeat the purpose of having gift cards, now wouldn't it?

DIY ugly sweater socks ($)

There are a thousand DIY ugly sweater kits out there. I've even encountered an ugly sweater beanie kit before (hit up Target, my friends - it'll change your life). But never before have I met ugly sweater socks. Urban Outfitters: it's life changing, y'all.

Takeout votive candle holder ($)

Lovers of Americanized Chinese food - and not washing dishes - unite! For just $10 (probably the cheapest thing at Urban Outfitters, TBH), this cute candle holder is the perfect accessory for all your lazy candlelit dinners.

Who's Most Likely To game ($)

My friends and I aren't big party animals, so game night is a staple for our Friday night festivities. Liven up your hangouts by deciding who "always wants to play stupid card games" (gee, wonder who that could be!) or "steals a street sign" with this cheeky - you guessed it - card game.

The Little Book of Skin Care: Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin by Charlotte Cho ($)

If you're the kind of person who has time for a 10-step skin care routine, or who just likes to read about people who do (LOL me), then this book is for you. Beautiful, nourished, trouble-free skin for just $25? Where do I sign up?

Mini donut maker ($$)

As soon as I saw this, I knew my post would never be complete without this donut maker. Now, if you'll please excuse me while I make an online purchase I'll probably regret...just kidding! But seriously, is anyone else seriously turned on by the idea of mini donuts right now?

Anthropologie

Astral tie-neck blouse ($$)

In light of my new internship, bow blouses have become my latest obsession. This printed beauty makes the perfect shirt for both work and play. Say it with me now: thank you, Anthropologie!

Rose Falken watch ($$$)

Rose leather! Rose gold! Rose Falken! I know; I'm not funny. But I'd say I have pretty good taste in watches, don't ya think?

Claire V feminin pouch ($$$)

This designer pouch constitutes the Big Splurge of my wishlist, but personally, I think it's worth it. Practical and - yes - feminine, Claire V's design is sleek and multi-functional: the epitome of modern French elegance.

Open-dated planner ($$)

"Open-dated?!" you ask in disbelief. Oui, ma cherie! Anthropologie's gorgeous number is an exemplar of planner porn for that very reason: write in your own dates; start and end usage whenever you please. Cue organization-gasm now.

Undersea trinket dish ($)

Bet you never thought you'd see so few dollar signs next to an Anthropologie product, huh? Well, surprise, surprise - this adorable ceramic whale dish from Polish ceramicist Marta Turowska costs a mere $24.

When mask set ($$)

More Korean beauty! Are you sensing a trend yet? From the brightening "Snow Magic" mask to the skin-saving "10:00 PM," these clever "When" masks have you covered for all your beauty emergencies. Brownie points for the graphic packaging.
